Job DescriptionSUMMARY: The Shipping Supervisor will provide day-to-day leadership and management for all Shipping/Material Handling/Freezer employees at the Seaboard Triumph Foods Processing Plant in Sioux City. Ensure production outputs are met, adhere to company policies and procedures, and responsible for employee performance and retention. Responsible for assuring shipping schedules are met by organizing and coordinating trailer loads. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Will train employees; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems. Must be flexible with work schedule.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
- Provide the day-to-day leadership and management for Production employees in department.
- Assigns, directs and monitors work performed by Shipping/Material Handling/Freezer employees.
- Responsible for employee's performance appraisal, development, and discipline. Must be able to address and resolve issues.
- Ensure all new hires and existing employees perform their jobs safely, correctly and with the highest level of quality and ability.
- Responsible for assuring shipping schedules are met by organizing and coordinating trailer loads.
- Communicate daily expectations, direction and instructions and provide ongoing feedback to employees. Communicate any changes in policies or procedures as needed.
- Develop collaborative working relationship with all departments in the Plant.
- Complete all reports accurately and timely.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, accident investigation analysis, conduct departmental safety meetings, and utilize equipment provided for employee protection.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Ability to perform necessary calculations for completion of production paperwork.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to make decisions on routine matters utilizing company policies and procedures and directions from upper management.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet, cold/hot and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. Temperatures fluctuate between set points of -10 +35 degrees. The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level wear OSHA required hearing protection is required.
