Main Duties & Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
Has the authority and responsibility for supervising various shipping work centers and processes, including shipping office, packaging, finished goods, and freight. Achieves effective and efficient issuance of product and materials, storage, and shipping. This includes supporting company-defined goals and standards.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Competencies:
Enforces company policies (Conduct, Quality, & Safety) as necessary. Trains and coaches as needed.
Implements the proper procedures or functions to optimize process, reduce cost, and increase productivity while maintaining conformance to customer requirements and/or industry specifications.
Directs and monitors inventory cycle counting and reconciliation.
Recommends the hiring and releasing of assigned personnel as required to support schedules.
Trains hourly personnel in the understanding and use of manufacturing work orders and picklists.
Implements the necessary controls to ensure products are delivered to schedule, utilizing various reports.
Ensures compliance with company policy regarding documentation and computer transactions.
Ensures computer transactions are of the highest accuracy to achieve maximum data integrity. Analyzes reports, conducts audits, trains and coaches users as necessary.
Looks for and optimizes all opportunities for cost reduction or avoidance by identifying and implementing improved processes and/or procedures.
Coordinates freight with vendors and customers. Works with corporate freight team to establish processes and ensure freight is in compliance with guidelines.
Interacts with engineering, sales and marketing, various departments and suppliers as required.
Directly supervises employees in the Shipping Department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Other duties as assigned.
OTHER COMPETENCIES:
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Forklift certification.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.). Five (5) years related experience or a cumulative combination. Minimum three years experience with supervisory responsibility in a high-volume manufacturing or warehouse environment with applicable experience in a materials role.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.
