Job Description: Shipping Technician If you have strong attention to detail, can work safely and efficiently independently and as part of a team, and are looking for an opportunity to grow, you could advance your career in Shipping and Receiving. As a Shipping and Receiving Technician, you will work with the operations team to ship and receive products in a timely manner and maintain inventory counts for finished goods and raw materials through accurate documentation to ensure on-time delivery to our customers. Fisher Barton is constantly adding new technologies to improve productivity, quality, and safety. At Level 1, You will:
  • Adhere to Fisher Barton Safety and Quality procedures and regulations and business code of ethics
  • Pull orders, ensure orders have been pulled, staged and repacked in correct quantities and packaging
  • Load and unload trucks as required
  • Use scanner to ensure all product is placed into correct location and system is updated
  • Create and reprint labels
  • Process chips from the Machine Shop
  • Package and store finished parts
  • Build boxes for shipment of product to customers
  • Maintain inventory of commonly used containers
  • Build custom wood shipping boxes
  • Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of working areas
  • Inspect incoming materials and subcontracted items
  • Be responsible for sub-contract orders
  • Pull material from the Machine Shop issuing material
  • Return raw materials to inventory from Machine Shop
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year experience working in manufacturing; or successful performance as a Fisher Barton Shipping and Receiving Technician 1 team member
  • Are proficient in all Shipping and Receiving Technician 2 skills, as defined on the site Training Matrix
  • Able to use a tape measure and nail guns safely
  • Forklift experience
  • Basic Math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent attendance

    • Weight amount that would need to be lifted, pushed, or pulled: Up to 100 pounds
    • Sit, Stand, Walk Talk/Hear, Use Hands, Climb/Balance, Stoop/Kneel/Crouch or Crawl, Reach with Hands and Arms, Taste/Smell (Percentage of Day = 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%)
    • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
    • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
    • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing: Loud (Examples: metal can, manufacturing department, large earth moving equipment)
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of environmental conditions.
