Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee, and periodically audit paperwork and electronic transactions required for each shipment, including ASN's, BOL's, packing slips, commercial invoices and export documentation.
- Audit material ready to ship, inspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed orders.
- Provides direction to staff on shipments (expedites), receiving (UPS/FedEx, outside processing) and staging of orders on shifts.
- Provide guidance and leadership to inventory control staff, ensuring accurate inventory via cycle count programs and physical inventory.
- Establish procedures to organize and maintain 5S policies throughout warehouse and surrounding areas.
- Has ownership of all inventory areas, to include WIP, FG, raw and MRO. Directly manage the organization and flow of material through these areas.
- Review monthly operation metrics with SCM and work to adhere to department goals.
- Main point of contact for clarification on shipping/receiving issues.
- Ensure departmental compliance to legal regulations and company policies.
- Report to management on activities and issues related to metric achievement .
- Conduct counseling and discipline as needed, monitoring employees' performance, attendance, productivity, etc.
- Communicate department performance feedback/expectations to direct reports.
- Promote good work morale, teamwork and work habits.
- Provide training, coaching, and instruction on procedures and safety.
- Evaluate and approve vacation requests and coverage, responsible for daily balancing of payroll.
- Prepare written information for use by succeeding supervisor in daily shift.
- Participate in scheduled supervisor meetings.
- Champion implementation of electronic inventory tracking devices (scanners).
- Aides SCM (Supply Chain Manager) in negotiations for contracts pertaining to WHSE or Logistics.
- Responsible for total Quality of products and services and authorized to stop work when a nonconformance is noted.
- Responsible for processes in the QMS and EMS.Has authority to develop and change these processes.
- Perform assigned quality system functions as specified in QMS procedures.
- Perform other responsibilities as determined by Manager.
- Observe established EHS regulations, procedures and practices.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- At least 5 years experience in supervision, experience in warehouse operations, understanding of overall manufacturing process, inventory control and 5S.
Required Skills
- Solid knowledge of logistics procedures
- Familiarity with Quality procedures, tools, and operations.
- Above average mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Word and Excel and ERP manufacturing software.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Expectations
- Directly supervises shipping/receiving and warehouse staff on all shifts.
- Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; suggesting rewards and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
