POSITION TITLEShop and Field Technician & Yard AssistantDEPARTMENT Shop and Supply Yard HOURLY/BENEFITS See Benefits and Compensation REPORTS TO Shop Foreman SUPERVISES None WORK WEEK SCHEDULE Monday - Sunday WORK HOURS AM & PM Shifts NUMBER OF MONTHS PER YEAR 12 The Shop/Field Technician and Yard Assistant is to assist in a variety of diesel and small engine mechanical repair and maintenance work and assisting the Yard with customer purchases which include loading, deliveries, and unloading material when available and needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Good IT and diagnostic skills. Physically fit and able to lift up to 150 pounds. Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools. Attention to detail. Good interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills. REQUIREMENTS CDL - A Degree, certification, or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering. Diesel certification. Minimum of 2 years' experience. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Assist the mechanics with conducting regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and automotive vehicles. Assemble mechanical components according to specifications. Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems. Pick up and deliver parts as needed for service vehicles and jobs. Repairing, replacing, and servicing vehicle brakes, completing oil changes, and other parts. Keep service van clean, organized, and stocked with proper parts and supplies. Follow proper PPE and safety protocols when working on equipment. Safely operate and work with the Yard Assistant as needed in the Supply Yard. Keep equipment clean during and after each use. Conducting field visits in case of an emergency or sudden breakdown. Maintain workspaces and promote shop safety. Perform other duties as assigned. Simple IRA with 3% company match of employee contribution offered after 60 days of full-time employment. Vacation Days: Six (6) months of employment attains (1) week or (5) days of vacation pay per calendar year. An additional one (1) week or (5) days of vacation pay is attained after three (3) years of employment. Accrued vacation rules apply to newly attained and annual vacation time. Paid Holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, and Christmas Day Profit-sharing eligibility: 4th Quarter annually WORKING CONDITIONSPHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to walk, stand, crouch, lift (50 lbs.+) and carry out strenuous physical tasks. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work outdoors in various conditions including heat, rain and cold.
