Our client is an aftermarket engineering and services company located in Bethlehem Pa. They perform a wide range of services on turbomachinery, including, reliability improvements, performance optimization, repair, component replacement and supply of upgraded or overhauled surplus equipment. They have experience with repowering turbomachinery packages and have supplied custom designed equipment skids and lube oil systems.The team in Houston, TX are looking to expand the leadership team by adding a Shop Foreman to oversee up to 15 mechanics and machinists on 1st Shift. If you have familiarity with reciprocating compressors, pumps (between bearing, vertical, overhung, and so on), centrifuges, gearboxes, liquid ring compressors, small steam turbines, and are able to quickly understand a variety of non-OEM rotating equipment then this could be your next career move!This role will supervise shop leads while ensuring adherence to proper schedule and priorities, with primary responsibility to drive quality and on-time delivery.- Provide leadership in maintaining a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence- Responsible for understanding and driving compliance to safety policy, procedures, and instructions- Team with Production Supervisor and devise training opportunities for craft labor in accordance with the employee skill and training matrix- Manage and coordinate departmental leads to ensure on-time completion of jobs- Possess a thorough understanding of project backlog and drive jobs as necessary to achieve monthly financial goals- Coach craft labor during disassembly, inspection, repair, and assembly of complex rotating equipment- Maximize utilization, while ensuring shop resources are working on scheduled tasks while understanding job priorities- Attend production meetings, giving updates and suggestions as necessary- Identify opportunities for standardization with respect to work practices, inspections, and routers- Function as liaison between shop & sales / customer contact as needed- Assist in planning turnaround work to be conducted in the facility- Management has the right to assign other duties as deemed necessaryRequirements:- 10+ years relevant machine shop experience- Familiarity with reciprocating compressors, pumps (between bearing, vertical, overhung, and so on), centrifuges, gearboxes, liquid ring compressors, small steam turbines, and able to quickly understand a variety of non-OEM rotating equipment- Ability to expertly comprehend complex drawings and procedures on various types of rotating equipment including, and able to seek out and identify parts lists / BOMs for in-process units- Excellent organizational skills- Expert in use of precision measuring equipment (mic, caliper, and so on)- Ability to lead in a team environment- Ability to coach / mentor within the extended team- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays, as required- Ability to work in an environment of constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities- Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required- Ability and willingness to work around and use large propane / acetylene torches- Ability to operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment- Strong oral and written communication skills- Basic computer and math skillsBase salary, $80 - $100K with overtime, an annual bonus, and full benefits.This company is putting forth an effort to bring in veteran talent to help make an impact to this growing workforce.
