Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the Shop Laborer ensures all assigned load lists are prepared, loaded, and delivered to assigned projects in a specified time. This position assists in ensuring the shop warehouse, yard, and inventory are updated, maintained, and accessible. Perform all other duties assigned.   • Implement Safety program in accordance with company standards
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, organized, and effective work environment
  • Actively participate in morning Toolbox Talks and Take 5 for Safety meetings
  • Assist employees in the recognition and avoidance of hazards
  • Conducting daily inspections of the work areas and operations to identify, and if necessary, correct and document unsafe work practices or conditions and report to Yard Supervisor
  • Utilize iPad software/ computer portal, as necessary
  • Operate a telehandler and or forklift, when needed
  • Organizing shop warehouse to maintain, access, and update inventory
  • Ensures established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed
  • Determine best practice and establish policies and/ or procedures, as needed
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks and verifying documentation
  • Analyze load lists and ensure items are accurate for delivery
  • Communicate with Yard Supervisor for load lists and needs list
  • Assist in testing functionality of equipment and accessories prior to distribution
  • Notify Yard Supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed
  • Attend and complete all educational classes that are required by the company
  • Acquire and maintain the necessary certifications as related to daily responsibilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Physical Ability- Physically stand or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for long periods, use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects, lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds, climb up and down ladders and scaffolds; Able to work productively in a variety of weather conditions
  • Communication- Uses strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner (via phone, email, text, and TruQC App)
  • Mental Alertness- Able to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously and in an efficient manner
  • Active Listening- Gives full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interruption at inappropriate times
  • Speaking and Writing- Communicates effectively with clients and co-workers
  • Reading Comprehension - Understands written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Service Orientation - Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Critical Thinking - Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solution, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Near Vision - Is able to see details at close range (within a few feet of observer)
  • Speech Clarity and Recognition - Speaks clearly so others can understand, and can identify and understand the speech of another person
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and trades type tools
  • Knowledge of industrial painting and equipment
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Hold and maintain a clean driving record

  • Work in a way that safeguards you and your fellow workers
  • Report any and all injuries to your immediate supervisor

  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policies
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
  • Preferred: Experience in inventory and working in a team environment
  • CPR, First Aid certification, OSHA 30, SSPC C-3 Worker Lead may be obtained prior to and/ or upon employment
  • Valid Driver's License, Forklift, Aerial Boom Lift, Confined Space
  • Preferred: CDL
