Electric Ground Support Equipment Supervisor/Tech 3 @ San Bernardino California Airport - SBD
M-F
7 to 3:30PM
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
The GSE Supervisor/Tech 3 must possess the ability to work effectively in a team environment, partnering with senior management, and is accountable for the following essential functions:
Managing day to day activities of the GSE operation
Prioritizing workplace safety with established metrics
Plan, direct and coordinate activities concerned with the acquisition of ground service equipment and operation and maintenance of ground services repair and storage facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates
Be a positive role model for all personnel and the airport community
Advise, consult, and coordinate with the Division Vice President, Corporate Controller, Corporate and Field Support Staff, Vice President of Operational Support, Clients, and Vendors.
Responsibilities:
Foster a safe working environment. Hold employees accountable for the safety audit performance and all operational metrics
Coordinate activities of personnel conducting research and testing program on ground service equipment considered for acquisition based on such factors as operational performance, costs of operation and maintenance, operational safety, and compliance with environmental laws and regulations
Coordinate inspection, repair, and maintenance services to obtain maximum utilization of equipment and prevent operational delays
Consult with Ground Equipment personal at locations of responsibility to determine equipment and machinery requirements
Coordinate activities of personnel involved in the repair and maintenance of ground service equipment.
Direct preparation of work schedules to obtain optimum utilization of human resources and facilities
Assist in the development of training materials and procedural manuals and conduct training and orientation as necessary for station programs
Confer with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in the area
Perform all necessary supervisory functions to effectively manage assigned personnel. Personnel duties include:
Maintain a qualified and appropriately trained staff
Communicate areas of accountability and performance expectations to assigned personnel
Determine standards of performance as a basis to review the progress of personnel
Recommend salary adjustments, transfers, promotions, and terminations
Ensure proper training of assigned personnel
Foster a safe, cooperative, and harmonious working climate conducive to maximizing employee morale and productivity
Lead in a pro-active, continuous improvement method
Service equipment with fuel, water, oil, hydraulic fluid, and compressed air
Log equipment numbers to be repaired with the description of work to be done on each piece
Inspect, Maintain, Troubleshoot, Replace, Repair, Overhaul, or Modify:
engines and transmissions
brakes and braking systems
hydraulic and pneumatic systems on the mobile lift and conveyor systems
bumpers and bodywork
bag cart curtains & curtain rods
towing hitches and towing bars
undercarriages, wheels, and tires
bushings, shafts, end places, springs, coils, armatures, pushrods, valves, manifolds, tubing, hose, and wiring
Remove, test, repair, or replace components and accessories such as carburetors, governors, air and oil cleaners, ignition points, and auditory sensors
Check and adjust the tolerance of valves, bearings, cams, clutches, and driveshafts
Diagnose problems using test equipment and applicable manuals
Operate and test ground equipment for performance assessment
Completed associated paperwork and track parts
Exceed PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards
Other duties as assigned

General Qualifications:

Valid State Drivers License with a verifiable safe vehicle operating record.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Computer Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, Online Timekeeping, and Outlook, sufficient to write letters, organize schedules, and perform other tasks related to payroll and operations.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid State Drivers License with a verifiable safe vehicle operating record.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the Ground Service Equipment department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
