General Job Description Shop/Service Technician Magnetech Industrial Services, Inc. 701 Bill Myles Drive West Saraland, AL 36571 Classification: Non Exempt/Hourly Location: Saraland, AL Primary Responsibility: Perform work in multiple departments and/or customer sites while in formal training or on-the-job training situations under the required instruction/supervision according to the quality procedures. ? Physical Demands: Moderate physical effort required. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. Regularly required to sit, stand, squat, lean over, bend, twist, reach, and/or climb, and move about the facility for extended periods of time. Ability to operate a fork lift and overhead cranes. Key Duties/Accountabilities: Perform in one or more of the following areas utilizing established quality procedures/instructions: Disassembly / Cleaning Mechanical Inspection Assembly Test Mechanical Repair Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical applications. Work overtime and weekends, as required, to meet the demand of the customer and/or the company workload. Travel to complete work at customer site, as required. Train in the above areas in which not yet fully qualified under the instruction of a Manager or Supervisor. Provide guidance to new shop-service technicians that are unfamiliar with the work process. Ensure that all tasks are performed utilizing all necessary procedures, work instructions, safety procedures and equipment. Keep work areas in a clean and orderly manner. Initiate material and process nonconformance, when necessary. Maintain a professional attitude when representing the company during phone, or personal contact with customers, outside vendors, and/or service providers, etc. Document/report all customer complaints to quality department. Make every effort within your sphere of influence to resolve the complaint immediately. Advocate and follow all quality, safety and environmental procedures and report any and all noncompliance. Provide support for any special projects as assigned by the Operations Manager. These special projects, at the determination of management, may or may not become part of your primary responsibilities. Promote continuous improvement (i.e.: employee suggestions, procedural enhancement, etc.). Measures of Success: Production efficiencies; i.e. low rework, warranty costs work completed at/or under estimated hours. Customer satisfaction. Meeting or exceeding customer demand/delivery. Recommended Position Requirements: This position requires an individual experienced at repairing and/or servicing electrical apparatus. To be considered, a candidate must possess a working knowledge of at least one of the work areas listed above (See Key Duties/Accountability). Additionally, the candidate must have a high school diploma and shop or related job/vocational experience. The position demands an individual who is hard working, detail oriented, thorough and able to work overtime and weekends, as needed, to meet company and customer demands. Being computer literate and possessing team skills are also desirable, as some development and ongoing projects involve teams of individuals from different backgrounds within the organization.
