Job DetailsJob LocationInchelium - WADescriptionCLOSING DATE: Open Continuously, with weekly reviewsPOSITION: Transfer Station Attendant (Short Notice)SALARY: $20.00 per hourREPORTS TO: Solid Waste Manager LOCATION: Inchelium, Washington BASIC FUNCTIONS: The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the operation and maintenance of the Tribal Transfer Station. This includes include checking customers in and out of station by verifying CCT membership (enrollment) cards and dumping permits, opening and closing the transfer station and maintaining it to operational standards.Minimum QualificationsEducation and Training:
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
- Requires a CPR/first aid certification or receive one within the 60 days of employment, and maintain throughout employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires knowledge of or ability to learn Tribal and Federal regulations as they pertain to solid waste management and recycling; Tribal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (TOSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Department of Energy (DOE).
- Requires knowledge of or ability to learn transfer station procedures and operation.
- Requires knowledge of or ability to learn waste reduction, recycling, and moderate risk household waste.
- Requires sufficient language skills to document transfer station activity and prepare routine reports.
- Requires sufficient human relation skills to maintain positive work relationships with internal customers and vendors, and to work as part of a team.
- Requires the ability to interpret and enforce transfer station regulations.
- Requires the ability to distinguish between and separate recycling materials from non-recyclables.
- Requires the ability to write and maintain accurate maintenance records for the transfer station operations.
- Requires the ability to represent the program professionally with compassion and sensitivity with clientele from diverse populations.
- Requires the ability to sort material and separate solid waste from recyclable materials and dispose of using proper techniques.
- Requires ability to assist with completing project deadlines.
- Requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone, email and in written format.
- Requires the ability to minimize confrontational and adversarial situations.
- Requires the ability to effectively execute and follow oral and written instructions.

- Requires the ability to lift, carry and move medium to heavy weight materials up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis; up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Requires visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens, to drive a vehicle, and to observe work processes.
- Requires the ability to use hearing for ordinary and telephonic conversation, to provide staff training sessions, and to hear sound prompts from equipment.
- Requires sufficient hand-eye coordination, arm hand dexterity and visual acuity read numbers and words.
- Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
- Requires the ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
