Shuttle Driver (academic calendar, 20-25 hrs/wk)

Job Type Part-timeDescriptionGeneral Statement of Duties :The shuttle's set hours are approximately Monday through Friday 8:30am-12:30pm during Ithaca College's Spring and Fall semesters. The driver will drop off and pick up residents, staff, faculty and students, and assist individuals on and off the vehicle. You will conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections, keep accurate driving records, maintain fuel levels and maintain cleanliness of the vehicle. Driver will be responsible for transporting individuals between campuses in a timely manner and seeing them safely on and off the shuttle. During downtime between shuttle runs, the driver may help with additional tasks outlined by the supervisor (e.g. collecting and returning bottles and cans). Adheres to Longview's risk management practices.Additional outings into the community happen twice weekly throughout the year. These outings include shopping trips and walking club outings. Evening and weekend outings may be scheduled based on resident interest and staff availability. Typical Duties and Responsibilities :1. Assists individuals on and off the wheelchair accessible bus.2. Drives to and from the Ithaca College campus.3. Keeps records relating to driving, as required. 4. Checks in with supervisor daily.5. Maintains fuel and cleanliness of the bus.RequirementsQualifications :1. Must possess a clean DMV record and experience driving large vehicles OR CDL license desired. Completion of a driver safety course within the past year also desired.2. Must pass a driving test in the Longview shuttle, supervised by the Recreation and Community Partnership Director.3. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and physically assist passengers in and out of the vehicle.Education and Experience :1. High School diploma or GED required. 2. Experience driving a shuttle or bus desired.3. Experience working directly with older adultsSchedule: Monday-Friday 8:30a-12:30p during the academic year (August-December & January-May)Additional scheduled shopping trips throughout the year
