Job Description: The shuttle/bus driver provides transportation in a University owned vehicle to members of the University Community. This transportation consists of scheduled runs to and from off campus residences and locations at which students, faculty, staff and guests are engaged in Bristol and Portsmouth and other directed locations. Provides Transportation Operates all University vehicles in a safe manner and in accordance with posted limits and all applicable state laws. Transports students needing medical treatment to local treatment facilities. Ensures that shuttle van/bus capacity limits are not exceeded and that all passengers are safely seated or using grab rails prior to departure from each stop. Must demand a high degree of courtesy, respect and be cognizant of time management. Maintenance Maintains the shuttle van/bus in a clean manner with all equipment fully functional. Reporting Maintain statistics regarding the number of passengers which board or debark the vehicle at each location and compile statistical reports as required. Properly prepare reports, logs and incident documentation for all activity as set out in the Shuttle Driver Handbook. Reports all incidents and complaints to the Manager of Parking and Transportation. Confidentiality Maintains strict confidentiality within the supervisory structure of Office of Student Affairs of all matters, in any way, involving the University or its agents or employees that come to the attention of the incumbent through whatever means, except as publishable in carrying out the specific responsibilities of the job. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. A Medical Examiner's Certificate (commonly referred as health card) and valid CDL license with passenger endorsement. The absence of a negligent driving record and successful passage of the mandatory nationwide criminal record check. Preferred Qualifications Prior shuttle bus driver or similar experience. At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
