Summary:

The Sign Erector Trainee will work alongside their assigned construction crew for their on the training program to gain a better understanding of the trade.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Erects reassembled signs according to plans, sketches, and blueprints

* Measures location for signs and marks points where holes for expansion shields are to be drilled,

* Drills holes using star drill,

* Makes layout for erection of signs,

* Cuts ties and sets reinforcing steel,

* Sets forms for concrete and pours concrete,

* Sets anchor bolts,

* Erects wooden or metal structures,

* Places clamps, brackets or other required hardware on structures,

* May use welding equipment for installation,

* Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image,

* May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,

* Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

* Must be a DC resident,

* Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record,

* Must possess less than one (1) year of construction experience,

* Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team,

* Must be dependable and reliable,

* Must possess a positive attitude and work ethic,

* Must be comfortable climbing up ladders and working at elevated and/or subterranean elevations,

* Must have strong verbal communication skills,

* Ability to focus on safety of self and co-workers at all times,

* High school diploma or equivalency is desired,

* COVID-19 vaccination is highly recommended,

* Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.

Working Conditions:

* This job may require you to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.

* This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces.

* This job requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time.

* This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts).

* This job requires the ability to perform essential job tasks in less than favorable job conditions. These may include, but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.

* Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
