Skilled and detail-oriented Signage & Installation Specialist responsible for the fabrication, installation, and production of all types of signs, including vinyl/print applications, laminating, and window/vehicle graphics. The role involves operating and maintaining wide-format digital printing equipment, cutter/routing devices, ensuring top-quality production & installation for interior/exterior signage, trade show displays, and various substrates such as wood, metal, acrylic, and paint. Strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are essential. Ability to accurately estimate labor hours and materials for any type of signage project on the university campus.
Responsibilities
* Sign Installation:
* Ensuring that signs meet clients' specifications in terms of spelling, font, size, and medium.
* Loading and transporting signs, tools, and materials to the location safely.
* Preparing the site for installation by removing old signage and preparing the surface or structure.
* Ensuring the effective measurement, placement, connection, and installation of the sign.
* Mounting and installing the signs in accordance with all safety protocols.
* Clearing debris and materials from the site after each installation.
* Performing maintenance and repairs to signs, as needed.
* Operating and maintaining the tools and equipment in accordance with safety protocols.
* Coordinate with outside vendors on larger projects
* Recommend best practices, material options, and installation methods to meet customer needs.
* Machine Operation:
* Set up, operate, and monitor digital printing equipment, including roll, non-paper, and finishing tools, i.e., cutting, routing, laminating
* Load, adjust, and manage various media types and sizes.
* Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of printing machines to ensure optimal performance.
* Perform calibrations as required
* Coordinate with service providers on preventative maintenance
* Print Quality Control:
* Inspect and adjust print settings to ensure accurate color reproduction, image clarity, and adherence to specifications.
* Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to print quality or equipment malfunctions.
* Conduct quality checks on completed prints to ensure they meet client standards.
* Address and resolve any quality concerns or issues promptly.
* Pre-press and Communication:
* Understand how to prepare print files by following client specifications and pre-press guidelines provided in job ticket
* Monitor and manage device production schedules to meet deadlines.
* Coordinate with the design and production teams to ensure smooth workflow and address any potential issues.
* Communicate effectively with customer service team and stakeholders to understand priorities, print requirements, and provide recommendations.
* Inventory Management:
* Maintain an adequate inventory of print materials, inks, and supplies.
* Order and replenish materials as needed to avoid production delays.
* Safety and Compliance:
* Adhere to all safety protocols and operational procedures.
* Ensure work area is clean daily
* Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be licensed as a journeyman painter; four years of directly related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated knowledge and use of required tools including but not limited to silk screening, engraving, computer assisted sign making, etc.; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required. The journeyman license is obtained through the successful passing of a comprehensive examination after the completion of a 3 year, 6,000 plus hour accredited apprenticeship program. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

* Work at the schedule time for your shift and be on time to start the shift.
* Punch in no more than 5 minutes before shift start time.
* Must contact supervisor if late or calling in sick (no less than 24 hours in advance).
