The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Signs & Markings Technician to provide responsible technical duties in support of the activities and services of the signs and markings function including installing, replacing and maintaining traffic control markings and street name signs and field maintenance services; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to the department.
* Install, remove, replace and maintain traffic control signs; measure and mark off streets, stalls and lanes for street painting; install crosswalks, medians and turn lanes; apply ceramic buttons, reflectors and epoxy adhesives.
* Participate in the design, installation, fabrication, maintenance and repair of city signs and markings including street, runway, taxi, apron and parking lot painting.
* Prepare new signage.
* Clean worksite; setup and disassemble barricades, warning devices and signs at work sites and for special events.
* Participate in a variety of activities requiring travel including inspection, maintenance and repair of worksites.
* Clean equipment and perform light maintenance after use.
* Operate a variety of marking equipment and machinery in manufacturing, installing and maintaining street markings and traffic signs including stencilers, torches, paint removing machine, metal cutting machine, drill press, heat lamp, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers and other related equipment.

Training:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability. Signs and Markings Pavement Technician Level I is required to be obtained within 24 months of employment.
Preferred:
International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II certification.
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
