What We Are Looking For G+D has an exciting opportunity for a Silk Screen Helper working in our Bolingbrook secure facility on 1st shift, Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:00pm. The Silk Screen Feeder is responsible for properly setting up the feeder for each job and working with Press Operators to run silk screen presses. The successful candidate will promote a culture of inclusiveness, cooperation, integrity, accountability, and performance. This position is eligible to complete an apprenticeship track that will progress in seniority and compensation while working toward obtaining the skills necessary to operate the Silk Screen Press. - Proactively collaborate with the press operator to successfully prepare the press for printing and maintain the press while operating.
- Review order tickets with the press operator and understand the requirements for the job.
- Interpret job order tickets to identify and locate stock needed.
- Assist in the setup of the feeder for the silk screen printing press according to written or verbal instructions.
- Load, unload and maintain the feeder on the silk screen press.
- Fill the ink fountains, pile stock, and keep the press clean and orderly.
- Follow processes and policies while providing a level of service that exceeds expectations.
- Assist the silk screen operator in printing on laminated or unlaminated vinyl sheets.
- Clean and maintain silk screen press and workstation.
- Responsible for correct handling, stacking, and covering of material.
- Operate silk screen stacker.
- Verify size, color, and type of substrate and color of ink from job order.
- Obtain and check screens, squeegee, and related supplies to produce job.
- Set up press by installing screens, squeegee, flood bar, and by registering stock to press and screen image.
- Operate UV curing machine.
- Set dryer for proper drying or curing.
- Retain knowledge of chemicals in chemical room.
- Operate squeegee sharpener.
- Help load and unload the silk screen press.
- Maintain log, complete production records and flag special handling.
- Operation of mini laminator including pulling recipes and preparing books.
- Continually check order specifications, registration and color matches against job order details.
- Maintain optimum production rate, registration, and quality standard according to customer specifications or company guidelines.
- Maintain continuous inspection of job specifications and quality throughout production run.
- Ensure proper cleanliness of press, workstation, and immediate press area.
- Assist press operator perform minor press repairs when necessary
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor and lead press operator
What Is Required
- Related experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge and understanding of safety and quality issues related to manufacturing
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Willingness to work overtime or be flexible with work hours to accommodate department needs.
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
What Is Preferred
- Experience with industrial silk screen printing press
- Cheerful outlook and good teamwork skills
