Position Summary:

The Simulation Specialist, Nursing and Allied Health Assists with the management of remedial and supplemental tutoring and skill building training to improve student proficiency in nursing and Allied Health. The incumbent may teach one or more classes in the assigned discipline.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Allied Health, the Simulation Specialist, Nursing and Allied Health is responsible for providing the remedial and learning assistance needed to improve students proficiency in an assigned academic subject area through effective performance in these essential duties:

  • Program development.
  • Service delivery.
  • Training and development of staff.
  • Alternative curricular design.
  • Research.

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in a field closely related to the positions specialty together with one (1) or more years of related experience which includes one (1) or more years of experience in the supervision of the work of others; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the positions essential duties.

Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:

  • Academic and skills assessment methods
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, implementation and evaluation
  • Familiarity with physical and learning disabilities.
  • Remedial, developmental and adult education methods and techniques.
  • Computer-based instructional technology
  • Supervision of staff.
  • Budget management.
  • Must hold a current, unrestricted R.N. license.
  • At least two (2) years prior full-time employment, or the equivalent, in clinical practice is required.

Starting Salary:

Anticipated Salary; $72,784 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. This Grant Funded position has the potential of renewal through 2025.
