The primary role is to run simulations with patient simulators and operate associated technologies including AV.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Simulation Operations Manager, the Simulation Technician will work to handle the day-to-day tasks which must be performed to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Center for Excellence in Practice and related educational activities. This position reports directly to the Simulation Operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Promotes and contributes to the enhancement of a high performing learner-centered environment
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the simulation laboratories and associated equipment in collaboration with the Simulation Operations Manager.
- Responsible for the preparation (set up, clean up and tear down) of simulation center activities including the simulation equipment, clinical supplies and additional equipment needed for the learning experience
- Revises simulation documents, creates medication labels and updates other associated paperwork.
- Assists simulation faculty and manages technical functions during simulation experiences
- Responsible for the clinical and simulation supply inventory
- Maintains simulation equipment (simulators, task trainers, clinical equipment) with daily, weekly & monthly maintenance as well as annual preventative maintenance on patient simulators & task trainer models.
- Collaborates in the pre-planning for overall simulation training and events.
- Provides excellent customer service to faculty, learners, clients, visitors and staff of the Center for Excellence in Practice through positive, respectful and professional communication via conversation, phone or email.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: - Maintains professional competency through participation in continuing education programs, literature review, and membership in discipline specific organizations.
- Provides tours of the simulation laboratories, providing basic technological demonstrations
- Participates in University initiatives and supports the University mission and goals.
- Recommends solutions or suggestions for improving the Center for Excellence in Practice operational model.
- Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- High school diploma
- Technical / mechanical aptitude to operate MAC and Windows platform computer systems.
- Strong knowledge of office use applications (MS Office, G Suite or other)
- Basic understanding of troubleshooting hardware, software, AV Equipment
- Basic knowledge of health care curriculum and technology, human anatomy, and life support systems with willingness to conduct independent study to upgrade knowledge to match simulation education activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Associate or bachelor's degree in technology or healthcare.
- Intermediate level experience in computer, simulation technology, and AV Equipment.
- Experience in a health care related field (Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Patient Care Assistant, Medical Assistant).
- Experience in simulation education.
