The position serves as a resource for faculty and students in the nursing and allied health skills laboratory area by assisting with practice and procedures involving the use of programming, and maintenance of Human Patient Simulators (HPS) and other biomedical equipment. Provides simulations skills updates for instructional faculty. Monitors student performance based on established grading guidelines when engaged in simulated care experiences. This is an 11-month contract position and is grant funded.Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate commitment to the mission of Southeast Arkansas College and contribute to the overall achievement of the College's mission through effective instruction, classroom management, and engaging in the College's retention and student success initiatives.
- Works collaboratively with faculty and staff simulations, Clinical Simulation Program (CSP) staff and other clients and stakeholders to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate simulation-based education and events, learning objectives, case scenarios, program planning, evaluation tools, and other needs of clinical departments and groups, utilizing the Clinical Simulation Program.
- Serves as simulator operator running pre-programmed scenarios with faculty instructors, assuring all equipment is set up for course programs.
- Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots clinical simulation technologies and associated audio-visual equipment so that training courses run smoothly.
- Provides technical assistance, support, and training to faculty and staff in the use of simulation equipment, as necessary.
- Conducts ongoing maintenance of all simulation equipment, including cleaning, repairing, assuring that all equipment is always maintained in good working order.
- Interfaces with equipment manufacturer regarding equipment troubleshooting and system functionality.
- Participates in technical training and professional development as appropriate to the position.
- Troubleshoots and assists with set up and maintenance of simulations equipment, systems, and supplies to meet training objectives.
- Coordinates utilization of the Simulation labs.
- Serves on assigned College committees and NAH committees to identify objectives for lab activities, evaluate usage of the lab, determine methods for maximizing use, and to establish policies.
- Provides and makes recommendations for continuing education for instructional personnel in expanding the use of the CSP.
- Assists in maintaining lab in readiness for independent practice of skills, skills demonstrations, and skills testing.
- Collaborates with SEARK library and nursing allied health faculty to maintain current Simulation scenarios and skills audiovisuals.
- Provides recommendations for budgetary planning for maintenance of Sim lab and equipment.
- Provides technical assistance to faculty and students in use of the CPS and other biomedical equipment.
- Assists in assembling and disassembling equipment for faculty and student use.
- Maintains inventory of Simulations equipment and supplies on an ongoing basis.
- Assists faculty and nursing & allied health students with demonstration, practice, remediation, and testing in the skills lab.
- Engages in self-assessment of teaching practices and professional development needs.
- Establish clear expectations for learning and student achievement, including clear communication about assignments, assessments, and other required educational activities.
- Maintain current and accurate records of student progress and record official grades.
- Refer students to other offices, departments, or institutional resources to provide services and assistance to students as appropriate.
- Actively engage in the College community to support the College's initiatives, programs, and services.
- Stay current on recent developments in the field of expertise, instructional practices, and the use of technology to enhance learning.
- Treat students, faculty, and staff with respect and contribute to an inclusive campus environment that encourages individual excellence and well-being.
- Teach up to one clinical rotation per week in the appropriate academic program and at the discretion of the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health.
- Perform other duties as assigned to promote student success and the success of the College in achieving its mission and goals.

- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher with a current unencumbered license or simulation certification and/or experience in another Allied Health discipline
- A minimum of three years of recent work experience in medical/surgical, critical care, or emergency nursing.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to teach work flexible hours as needed.
- Basic knowledge and experience in the use of simulators.
- Willingness to teach concurrent/dual-enrolled students if needed.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education, simulation, healthcare, or a related discipline.
- Current formal classroom education experience in nursing.
- Experience teaching with simulation.
