BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) Site Coordinator Part-Time Located in Torrington Middle School, Torrington Job Description: EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to work in the BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) After School Program at Torrington Middle School, Torrington, CT. The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with middle school-aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available during after-school hours T, W, Th (2:30 pm-5:45 pm). The Site Coordinator works under the supervision of the BASES Administrative Team. Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinate operation of the after-school program T, W, Th (plus planning time)
- Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
- Plan and implement age appropriate activities
- Supervise Teacher Assistants
- Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
- Set up and clean up of program site
- Maintain/follow federal grant requirements
- First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire
- Other duties as may be assigned
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field (i.e. social work, psychology)
- Experience working with Middle School Aged Children
- Knowledge of Child Development
- Awareness of Age-Appropriate curriculum activities
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Supervisory skills to train and guide Teacher Assistants
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
