in site programs including educational social physical nutritional and psychological development of children under their care Communicates with parents on their childs individual progress and maintains records of attendance and educational achievement Plans lessons serves meals and ensures healthy and safe learning environment for children Holds the experience and credentials required for the Center Director for California Community Care Licensing CCLD requirements in the absence of the Regional Site Director RSD POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the care and supervision of all enrolled PACE Education center based children planning and implementing classroom lessons conducting meetings and conferences with parents coordinating activities and events for children and parents interacting with the public and providing customer service by phone email and in person and preparing correspondence reports records and other paperwork required by the early childhood education program Establish and maintain a safe healthy learning environment and encourage the involvement of families to strengthen the relationships between children families and community Communicate timely and effectively with Regional Site Director RSD as needed throughout the day ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE TeacherFloater Responsibilities Ensure the proper care safety and supervision of children always while on PACE premisesOversee supervision and management of children in the classroom to ensure a safe clean and healthy learning environmentMaintains record keeping and reporting systems to ensure accurate information with timely completion and follow upPlans and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum and assessment for the classroomCreates and modifies the daily classroom lesson plans in accordance with established curriculumProvides for a healthy and safe physical environment for the children and integrates the parents into the educational program by providing a program that focuses on the parent as the prime educational providerConducts parentteacher conferences and home visits twice a year in accordance with Head Start performance standardsProvides for the completion of necessary paperwork on the children in the classroom such as attendance reports observations on individual children in the classroom enrollment records and reportsEnsures childadult ratio is met and maintainedConduct safety checks and maintain a safe clean care giving environment practices good personal hygiene and handwashing and assures the well being and safety of all the children in the environment and sanitize all areas of the classroom including food preparation and eating areaTend to childrens personal hygiene needs during routines such as diaper changing cleaning feeding and changing soiled or wet clothesAssist Teaching Staff with teacher parent conferences and home visits as neededPrepares andor serves meals and snacksCover rest and meal breaks for Teaching Staff at the site according to the developed break scheduleSupport classroom teaching staff with various tasks ie typing printing photocopying stepping into a classroom so they can complete a task etc as neededrequested and as availableSubstitute as neededrequired in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement California Community Care Licensing Requirements Maintain the appropriate credentials and experience to serve as the Center Director for Community Care Licensing purposes should the Regional Site Director RSD be absentEnsures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards federal and state regulation and Community Care Licensing requirements General Responsibilities Receive and send maildocuments through the Interoffice Mailbag system Delegate task to other site staff as neededAddress inquiries from the public parents etc as applicable Any issues that require a supervisors attention are to be directed to the Regional Site Director RSDComplete on going professional development through education role modeling mentoring and providing training and resourcesBuild relationships and participate in community collaborations and events to enhance Head Start servicesSubmits needed classroomcurriculum supply order requests to Regional Site Director or Warehouse Clerk as needed for effective service deliveryAttend all assigned meetings and trainings as required by the programSupports and ensures the achievement of recruitment and enrollment goals Assists in accomplishing the programs non federal share through the access of community resources services donations discounts andor goods Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Education and Work ExperienceBachelors degree in early childhood education child development or related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accreditation association recognizes by the Council for Higher Education AccreditationMust possess a current and valid Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or higherAt least two 2 years of experience in a classroom setting or combination of two 2 years in both classroom and group settings with young children Must obtain total of 6 units of infant and toddler development but 3 semester units must be presented at hire and 3 units may be completed within the first year of employmentMust be at least 18 years oldKnowledge and SkillsAbility to provide effective and nurturing teacher child interactions and to plan and implement learning experiences thatEnsure effective curriculum planning and implementation based upon individual childrens development continuum and integrate child assessment data in individual and group planningPromote childrens progress across the standards described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework Ages Birth to Five and applicable state early learning and development standards including for children with disabilities and dual language learners as appropriateInclude developmentally appropriate learning experiences in language literacy social and emotional development math science social studies creative arts and physical development that are focused on achieving progress outlined in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework Ages Birth to FiveEstablish and maintain a healthy learning environment; andEncourage families engagement with their children in all Head Start programs to support the development of relationships between children and their familiesMust be a team player with outstanding interpersonal skills Must have good organizational writtenoral communication and observation skills Basic computer skills requiredBilingual in EnglishSpanish is a plus but not required SPECIAL CONDITIONS Current Adult & Pediatric CPR1St Aid CertificateValid California Drivers License and insurance coverageMust pass the following background checks prior to start of employmentSex Offender RegistryChild Abuse and Neglect State RegistryState or Tribal Criminal History Check including fingerprintsFBI Criminal History Check including fingerprints Must have verification of TB clearance at time of employment to be renewed every four 4 years every 4 years for chest x raysMust pass health screening LIC 503 at time of employment health screening is accepted within one year prior to hire to be renewed every four 4 yearsProvide proof of the following immunizations as required Measles Pertussis Whooping Cough Influenza and COVID 19Must complete 15 clock hours of professional development annually that builds the knowledge experience skills and abilities of staff to improve child family and staff outcomes Of this a minimum of 50 of the 15 hours or 75 hours must be focused on the specific content area or job assignment Must also complete an annual Professional Development Plan PDP to be reviewed 3 times during the yearMust obtain 21 hoursyear of professional development 105 hours every five years to maintain their teaching certificationPACE will assist applicants that are eligible and have an active Certificate of Clearance with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing to apply for a Temporary County Certificate Child Development TCC through Los Angeles County while waiting for CTC Commission on Teacher Credentialing to process PHYSICAL DEMANDS The working conditions and physical demands of this position will be those that must be met to successfully perform the essential duties of the position Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties The physical environment the incumbent will work in is typically a pre school environment with moderate noise levels that would be expected in that type of work environment Outdoor and indoor supervision of playgrounds workplace for on going periods occurs regularly Lift and carry up to 45 lbs or more The individual must be able to work with children at their eye level and always maintain visual supervision of children as well as hear communicate and comprehend effectively with children staff and parents The individual also must be able to walk sit kneel crawl carry push pull and participate in activities indoors and outdoors as needed in an environment with children and adults TB Test within the past six months prior to employment and every four 4 years thereafter every 4 years for a chest X rayMust pass health screening LIC 503 at time of employment health screening is accepted within one year prior to hire to be
