Job DescriptionOversee operations of the renewable generation asset by managing the site operations and maintenance programs relating to day-to-day and long-term maintenance of combined solar and battery assets. Primary objective is to direct work of solar technicians and contractors, manage and administer the operations and maintenance functions at the plant in accordance with Operations and Maintenance Agreement requirements and the Operations and Maintenance Programs. This overall will be achieved by meeting the following objectives: health and safety performance for assigned technicians and contractors, maintaining compliance including environmental stewardship, supervision of assigned technicians, employee training and development, quality control, effectively utilizing work management systems, maintenance of generation assets and community engagement.This position will be based in Ravenswood, West Virgina.Responsibilities
- Manages and directs employees and contractors both at the site and those supporting the project from other locations to ensure BHE Renewables business objectives are achieved and assists in maintenance budget development, oversight, and adherence.
- Manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the PV industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Manage the use of the enterprise asset management system and assures the complete and accurate integration of the system, at the site. Monitors and manages the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, equipment, tools, and reordering as necessary.
- Manages financial performance including day-ahead market offers, reviewing power purchase agreement settlements, reviewing and approving the day-to-day project expenditures and budgets including both capital and O&M funds.
- Manage environmental permitting, compliance and mitigation. Interpret permits and other documents, as well as develop compliance assurance plans and inspection procedures. Represent the company's interests on various industry and governmental committees.
- Interfaces with the Real-Time Desk to review the operation of plant equipment and systems continuously, minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensures completion of technicians' documents; outages, onsite equipment problems, log entries, site visitation; safety and environmental inspections.
- Communicates regularly with management and all site personnel, both individually and as a group, to ensure excellent three-way communication concerning operational and maintenance issues. Produce and speak to site reports and presentations of plant maintenance status, schedules, and goals.
- Provide leadership and direction to all personnel providing maintenance support at the site, including contractors. Supervision of remote site personnel and maintenance activities may be needed as required by management.
- Prepares and implements switching and clearance orders, while working with Operations Center.
- Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field is preferred or equivalent work experience. (Typically, six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
- Eight years of related project management or renewable energy experience including three years supervisory management responsibilities. Knowledge in new renewable/alternative energy power projects preferred.
