Job Title: Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)
Job Description
The on-site SSHO is responsible for overall management of CQC & Safety and has the authority to act in all safety and CQC matters for the Contractor. The SSHO should be a graduate engineer, architect, or a graduate of construction management with at least 1 year of construction experience on similar projects or a non-degreed individual with a minimum of 5 years in related work.
Responsibilities:
Quality Control
+ Prepares and maintains the QC Plan including testing plan and submittal status log.
+ Performs or assigns personnel to perform inspections, monitoring, and documentation for submittal review activities of the work performed each day for compliance with the plans and specifications.
+ Ensures that field material requisitions and purchase orders are reviewed by QC personnel for the incorporation of appropriate quality requirements.
+ Ensures that all records required are submitted to the government and are submitted in accordance with the QC Plan, within the specified time.
+ Acts as the primary contact with the governments quality assurance representative. Provides advance notification to the government as required by the QC Plan and the contract.
+ Ensures that as-built drawings are properly maintained.
+ Administers the program for controlling non-conformance and Rework Log.
+ Ensures that company personnel and all QC personnel have reviewed and are familiar with the applicable documents pertaining to their assigned duties.
+ Certifies daily that materials and equipment delivered and/or installed at the project site comply with the contract plans and specifications.
+ Certifies daily that work performed on and off the construction site conforms to the plans and specifications.
+ Ensures that any deficiencies and/or remedial actions planned and/or taken are included in the reports.
+ Supervises and coordinates the inspections and test activities to ensure that all required tests are performed and reported properly.
+ Ensures that the QC organization is adequately staffed with qualified personnel to perform the required inspections and tests in accordance with the plans and specifications.
Safety
+ Implements and enforces company safety policies in strict accordance with USACE EM-385.
+ Conducts toolbox meetings.
+ Reviews and approves all subcontractors' safety plans.
+ Verifies that injury logs and reports are completed/submitted to main office and client.
+ Verifies that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
+ Promotes safe practices at the job site and enforces safety guidelines.
+ Trains and carries out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
+ Conducts investigations of all accidents and near-misses.
+ Reports to concerned authorities as requested or mandated by regulations.
+ Conducts job hazard analyses and establishes safety standards and policies as needed.
+ Performs emergency response drills.
+ Looks out for the safety of workers and works to protect them from hazardous situations.
+ Responds to employees safety concerns.
+ Coordinates registration and removal of hazardous waste.
Hard Skills
+ Construction Health & Safety Officer
+ Military / Federal Experience
+ 5+ years experience as SSHO
+ EM-385 safety certification
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Hampton, Virginia.
Work Environment
Individual will be working onsite at Langley Airforce Base in Hampton VA
