Our team provides customers with a complete suite of maritime solutions, allowing us the incredible opportunity to work on unique projects in some of the most amazing locations on earth.What You Will Do:This position's primary responsibility is to ensure all project activities adhere to the contract specifications while maintaining compliance with all applicable safety and quality standards set forth by Curtin Maritime. The SSHO will always follow safe work practices and be responsible for helping everyone learn and maintain the Curtin Standard. Implement and execute accepted project-specific plans, including accident prevention plans, environmental protection plans, site-specific safety plans, injury, and illness prevention plans, etc.:
- Apply the 3 pillars of Curtin Maritime (Efficiency, Integrity, and Innovation) to everything we do
- Formulate, create, and maintain site/contract safety plans specific to projects and/or contracts when necessary or required.
- Efficiently management of project safety and environmental submittals
- Ensure proper employee, company, and subcontractor certifications are obtained and maintained
- Manage safety and health programs on-site to ensure compliance with established policies, state/federal laws and OSHA regulations and act as the primary project contact for all health and safety and/or regulatory agency requests and inquiries
- Determine, communicate, and document deficiencies and ensure they are corrected in a timely manner.
Act as On-Site Company Safety Representative:
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements
- Communicate, educate, and train employees in safety awareness and specific safety requirements according to OSHA and other applicable standards
- Conduct required meetings with all interested parties
- Conduct safety and health inspections and maintain associated documentation
- Recommend and implement control measures to reduce any liability or exposure from non-compliance with various agencies, codes, and company procedures regarding environmental, health and safety standards in the workplace
- Participate in Incident Response and Reporting Systems and support incident investigation processes
- Manage employee and customer situations: respond promptly to employee/customer needs, solicit feedback to improve service, respond to requests for service and assistance, and meet commitments promptly
- Complete administrative tasks assigned by Project Manager, as requested
Who You Are:The SSHO plays an integral role in providing logistical support to a dredging project. This role works directly with the marine construction leadership team on site to efficiently manage and guide the implementation of health, safety, and environmental standards and plans on project sites. The SSHO is expected to be a motivated individual who can prioritize tasks independently and execute them in a timely manner. This is an essential role in fast paced environment that requires thinking quickly and effectively while maintaining a positive attitude. What Skills You Have:You have the following Mental Aptitudes:
- Brainstorming/Thinking outside the box
- Planning, scheduling, sequencing work
- Good communication skills including phone, text, and email
- Ability to prioritize duties and multi-task
You have the following Physical Aptitudes:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without restriction. Position involves lifting heavy equipment and objects
- Agility to bend, stoop, or squat, and climb high steps/ladders frequently
- Adequate hearing & vision ability
You must have the following required qualifications:
- 3 years of work experience and/or SSHO experience in heavy or marine construction, preferably dredging, beach nourishment, site reclamations and earthwork experience
- Must have current U.S. Army EM 385-1-1 training and thorough knowledge of current 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual
- OSHA-30 Hour Construction
- TWIC Card (can be acquired once hired)
- Physical & DOT Drug Test
- First Aid/CPR/AED
- Valid Driver's License with clean driving record required
