Job Description:
The City of Pleasant Hill is currently accepting applications for the part time position of Recreation Site Supervisor. Starting pay rate of $12.00 - $14.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Interviews are conducted as applications are received. Recreation Site Supervisor Department: Parks & Facilities FLSA Status: Non-exempt Pay Grade: 12 or 14 Supervisor: Recreation Coordinator Created/Updated: 2/17/2021 Summary of Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator; responsible to assist in the coordination of a variety of recreation programs and leagues by monitoring and supervising activities at assigned facilities, ensuring participant safety and satisfaction, as well as facility safety, pre-event preparation and post-event cleanup. Example of duties:
  • Prepare the site for the activity assigned, ensuring that; equipment is set up properly for each age group, game balls and other equipment are in good working condition and accessible for the game officials, and that scorekeepers/clock operators and referees/umpires are prepared for play
  • Maintain league fairness and safety by monitoring referees, umpires, coaches, and parents during league games and practices
  • Enforce all facility rules and league regulations as interpreted in the official rule book
  • Assist game officials in rule interpretation as needed
  • Model the sportsmanship philosophy of the Parks and Recreation Department
  • Communicate with the Recreation Coordinator regarding concerns and issues with rules, referees, participants, or spectators
  • Secure and protect City and School District property from damage during scheduled use
  • Assist in the clean up/tear down of program areas after use
  • Report all incidents (physical or behavioral) to the Recreation Coordinator immediately or to the Parks and Facilities Director within 24 hours of event
  • Report all facility maintenance concerns to the custodial crews or Recreation Coordinator as applicable, immediately
  • Offer the highest quality customer service to program participants
  • Ensure the safety of participants during programs and offer first aid as necessary
  • Communicate program information to participants and participant feedback to department staff
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned
Desirable Minimum Qualifications
  • An acceptable combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
  • Interest in or knowledge of sports in general
  • Understanding of facility rules, policies and procedures
  • Good public relation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
.Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to mostly work evenings and weekend
  • First aid and CPR certified, or able to obtain within first three months
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to make visual inspections of various activity sites
  • Regular walk-throughs of facility areas open to the public
  • Must be able to observe and identify safety hazards, operational concerns, and player/spectator behavior
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 25 pounds for general site preparation duties
Environment: Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings:
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly works near areas in which program participants are physically active and practices or games with balls or equipment in motion are underway.
  • Employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electric shock
  • Employee will be subject to a variety of environmental conditions and temperatures
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually relatively loud
