Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Technician 2 at Beaver Dam State Park. This position will conduct janitorial duties; planting greenery, plowing snow, patch roads; provide pertinent site information to visitors; minor repairs to plumbing/heating and air conditioning equipment, The ideal candidate will be able to utilize their experience in building trades skills, communication skills and love of the outdoors. Beaver Dam State Park is 750 acres located in Macoupin County, 7 miles southwest of Carlinville and situated in an oak/hickory woodland. It offers fishing, picnicking, hiking, and tent and trailer camping. We welcome interested applicants who would like to be part of this team to apply today.
Essential Functions
* Under general direction, performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance to vehicles and equipment of the operation of Beaver Dam State Park
* Maintains tree removal throughout the Region 4 parks
* Operates, monitors, and repairs site equipment and outdoor facilities
* Maintains building interiors
* Engages in camper activities seasonally
* Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
* Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery.
Preferred Qualifications
* Two (2) years of working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing
* Two (2) years of experience in following written and oral instructions
* One (1) year of experience informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules, and regulation.

* Ability to pass background check
* Valid driver's license
* Ability to obtain pesticide/herbicide operator's license within 6 months of employment
* Requires ability to withstand exposure to the elements on a year-round basis
* Requires physical ability to operate and maintain tools, equipment, and materials utilized in the maintenance, repair, and care of site resources, buildings, and grounds
* Requires ability to lift, carry, and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds
* Requires ability to walk over rough and broken terrain
* Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification
