Job DescriptionThis job requisition provides candidates to locations throughout Southeast Michigan. This job requisition is not location specific.Auto Mechanics are paid a top hourly base rate of $42.075, plus applicable shift, overtime, and holiday premiums. The starting rate for this position is $41.875 with pay increases to the top rate upon completion of three consecutive months of employment.Benefits:Immediate access to Best-in-Class Company provided healthcare!

ResponsibilitiesWillingness and ability to work on an assigned schedule, change shifts periodically, work more than 8 hours per day and/or work overtime, while maintaining good attendance. Ability and willingness to learn and follow safety rules and procedures.Ability to learn, remember, and maintain pace of steps involved in performing a job after instruction, training, and familiarization with the tasks. Ability and willingness to understand and follow instructions, both oral or in writing. Ability and willingness to work in a team environment, including helping co-workers, maintaining and promoting a safe work environment, treating co-workers with dignity and respect regardless of personal differences, and accepting and following instructions and requests from leadership.QualificationsCandidates must have completed a bona fide apprenticeship, or have 8 years of previous experience, or have a combination of previous work experience and training equivalent to a bona fide apprenticeship program in the trade. Maintains auto/diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments/alignments and maintaining records. Job responsibilities include the following:
  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Successful completion of a job interview, background check, pre-employment drug screen and physical are required.
