**Job Summary:**
The Skilled/Unskilled Laborer for the Paving Crew is responsible for providing labor support at the project location. This position performs a wide variety of basic physical tasks under the direct supervision of the Foreman and skilled craft workers. The work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions. This position performs strenuous physical activity, for long periods, under varying and adverse field conditions.
**Position Responsibilities**
* Assist construction crew with various duties such as but not limited to flagging, shoveling, raking, safely backing/dumping trucks
* Operate small hand tools as needed such as concrete saws, jackhammers and leaf blowers
* Dig, spread and level construction materials
* Life, carry, and hold material, tools and supplies
* Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices
* Help crew with laying out the project
* Cleaning up the project every day before leaving at end of shift
* Help operators clean off machines and clean at end of shift
* Help operators set up machine if needed
**Requirements**
* Prior construction or field experience preferred
* Valid drivers license
* Effective communication skills and ability to work as a team
* Ability to affectively follow specific directions from supervision
* Strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity
* Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job--lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds; stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out and above shoulder, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull
* Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including working overtime and weekends as needed
