Production Manager

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The Production Manager will help us run smoothly as we grow and scale our business. As the Production Manager, you can champion new initiatives to drive positive trends in the department. The production manager is responsible for meeting quality, labor efficiency, and production goals. In addition, the Production Manager will be responsible for developing standard operating procedures and production key performance indicators, setting production standards, and making critical staffing decisions.

  • Plan and draw up a production schedule. Decide on and order the required resources and ensure stock levels remain adequate.
  • Ensuring production lines run seamlessly and products are of the highest quality.
  • Problem-solving to bring about the best outcomes for the employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Functions, duties, and responsibilities necessary to accomplish the main objective of the job, but not limited to:

  • Works with the leadership to drive daily, weekly, & monthly production needs to meet our goals via positive team leadership and engagement.
  • Works with team members to maintain a high level of training for all production areas.
  • Will ensure that all Production Employees are trained according to the SOP's
  • Creates production schedule to plan out product needs in advance
  • Ensures the Production Quality Control Checklist is utilized and validated for all products.
  • Ensure that all quality standards, specifications, and policies are met, drive continuous process/production improvements, and collaborate with Research and Development in product development and implementation.
  • Develop and drive a team and individual performance-based culture to assure continuous improvement and alignment with Primally Pure's vision, mission, and objectives.
  • Develop and drive open/honest dialogue and involvement with all team members that demonstrate the value of their input and engagement in improving communication and performance.
  • Ensures that products are being made according to schedule
  • Collect, analyze, and report production data to reduce inefficiencies and increase throughput without reducing quality
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs for equipment.
  • Performs root cause analysis and resolves problems with equipment.
  • Works with team and puts measures in place to ensure the highest level of accuracy in weighing, measuring, labeling, etc.; trains team to recognize any potential red flags with ingredients or finished products.
  • Follow product recipes and instructions carefully and without error.
  • Develop a sense of what each ingredient should smell and feel and detect any potential imbalances before adding each one to a batch.
  • Develop quality checks at each stage of the process to identify and correct any potential issues before production.
  • Ensures all products are labeled to standard and on time for shipping needs.
  • Maintains ingredient inventory and communicates ingredient or packaging needs when necessary.
  • Clean up after oneself and others during and at the end of each shift, maintaining clean production areas.
  • Develop and drive a high performance and accountability culture in employee and product safety.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and other functional leaders to create and execute effective employee relations processes and develop Supervisors and Leads to do the same to maintain a positive working environment.
  • Coordinates R&D tests with the Product Development Manager



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

List the degree or certification required. List the years of experience in the related field required

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Production/Operations Management) and/or 3-5 years of production experience in an operations/production environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload
  • production experience in the green beauty industry (preferred)
  • Experience in working in a lab setting (preferred)
  • Experience with handmade large-scale batch processes
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership skills with the ability to influence change at all levels of internal and external contacts
  • Process improvement oriented
  • Key leadership competencies in addition to high ethical standards, strong values, integrity, drive to deliver results, pride in personal and team performance, decision quality, building effective teams, and action orientation are fundamental. Quality Control and Quality Assurance Experience are required
  • Familiarity with industry standards, equipment, technical expertise, and regulations
  • Ability to operate with limited direction
  • An analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Experience utilizing Excel, PowerPoint, and the Google suite of applications to collect, analyze, and present data.
  • Experience utilizing ERP/Warehouse Management Systems

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical working conditions, percentage of travel, hours, etc.

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Required to be onsite - Remote work not available
