38766971 * *POSITION STANDARDS* * Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography, or successful completion of a polysomnography program or associate of allied health program, of no less than one year duration, associated with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist is preferred but not required. If not RPSGT credentialed must obtain within one year of employment. * Strong writing and verbal communication skills required. Maintain positive communication and relationships with all levels of management, employees as well as individuals outside of the organization. Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy, procedures, regulation or government law. Must be able to follow safety precautions. Strict adherence to confidentiality is essential. * Computer skills necessary with proficiency in the use of sleep software applications and all Microsoft applications and the internet required, smart card downloads software, actigraphy software is preferred. Knowledgeable about Compumedics is optimal but not required. * Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire. * *POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* * Anything listed here requires a pre-employment physical by Employee Health to determine if the employee is capable of meeting the requirements. * *Physical Activity:* * The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. * *Upper Extremity:* * *Push/Pull/Lift/Carry:* * *PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY* * *Position Objective* * A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the direct supervision of the Medical Director of Sleep Services and under general supervision of the management of Sleep Services. This position will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. * *Performance Expectation* * *Clinic Flow:* * Preparation of the patient charts prior to arrival, including entering all patients' past medical, physical, and social history, including medications. Reviews information with patient, takes vitals, and starts the office documentation. Prepares providers Rx refills and other paperwork as necessary to maintain required deadlines * *Training/Education:* * Provides education to the patient about sleep disordered breathing and treatment of their disorder. Reviews compliance download data, explains the report to the patient, based on the report technologist will decide to take action in refitting for optimal therapy. * *Polysomnographic Procedures:* * Collects data for sleep studies performed including, but not limited to, baseline polysomnogram, CPAP Titration studies, Multiple Sleep Latency Test, Maintenance Wakefulness Test, Home Sleep Tests, Actigraphy and PAP Nap studies. Uses standard criteria outlined by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. * *Polysomnographic Record Scoring:* * Analyzes sleep/wake stages including respiratory, limb, arousal, and cardiac rhythms. Compile a report based on the data analyzed. * *Additional Responsibilities:* * Other duties as assigned such as, but not limited to, office functions, scheduling appointments, registering patients, and obtain prior insurance approvals.
