Rolled Metal Products, Inc.South-Lebanon, TennesseeRoles and ResponsibilitiesJob Title: Slitter HelperFLSA Status: Non-ExemptReports To: ForemanDate Approved: March 1, 2023Summary of PositionThe Slitter Helper is responsible for assisting the Slitter Operator in set-up and completion of the steelcutting and recoiling process at Rolled Metal Products, Inc. (RMP)Responsibilities and DutiesAs a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Slitter Helper position. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.Receive direction from Slitter Operator on how to stage coils to be processed for maximum efficiency.Assist in building set-ups by placing spacers and knives onto the tension arm at specified widths for the steel coils to be cut to the customer's specifications.Assist in loading and stringing coils on slitter.Tape, mark and remove all finished coils from slitter.Safely drive the forklift through the plant to move coils and skids to designated areas and operate the over-head crane to move coils from the slitter to packaging.Unload scrap winder as necessary when it becomes full.Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers and calipers.Maintain facility, equipment, and vehicles.Keep a clean and safe work environment.Adhere to all RMP's safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.Adhere to all RMP's handbook policies and procedures.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentGood written and oral communication skillsGood organizational, problem-solving, and time management skillsAbility to measure using different toolsAbility to read and transfer data accuratelyBasic math and computer skillsAbility to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept directionStrong work ethic; self-motivatedOperate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, suppliers, and managementPreferred QualificationsOne or more years coil slitting experienceMicrosoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and OutlookPhysical RequirementsPhysical demands:Sitting-RarelyStanding-More than of the timeUse of hands or fingers to handle or feel-Over of the timeReach with hands or arms-Over of the timeKneeling/Crawling/Twisting/Balancing-Over of the timeBending/Climbing-Over of the timeTalk or hear-Over of the timeClose vision (clear vision at 36 inches or less)Weights to be lifted:Up to 50 pounds-Over of the timeUp to 70 pounds-Less than 10% of the timeWeights to be pushed/pulled:Between 25-50 pounds-Over of the timeWorking ConditionsGood working conditions.
