Job Description:

A specialty education network in New York City is currently seeking a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join one of their schools in the Bronx. In this role, the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for providing direct treatment of speech/language intervention services to students throughout all 3 programs at the school. About the Opportunity:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Assignment Length: Ongoing
  • Schedule: 3 or 5 days a week
  • Hours: 8:20am to 3:30pm
  • Setting: School
  • Population: Visually-impaired (ages 3 to 21)
***CFYs will not be considered for this role.*** Responsibilities: The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will:
  • Structure intervention to meet goals and objectives on student's IEP
  • Organize and keep records related to student attendance, student progress, and Medicaid/IDEA mandated documentation
  • Perform evaluations (initial, annual, triennial) and make recommendations for goals and mandates, as appropriate
  • Perform annual hearing screenings on students and makes referrals to parents as appropriate
  • Evaluate and recommend a student's need for therapeutic feeding intervention
  • Provide support for classroom staff to feed children in a safe and therapeutic manner
  • Modify therapy materials as necessary to work with blind/visually impaired, multiply impaired, sensory impaired students and uses appropriate and individualized communication modalities as per each student's need
  • Participate in regular team and departmental meetings, supervisory meetings, school and instructional meetings and staff development days as required
  • Provide support to parents and staff and/or serves as a liaison for tech support with augmentative and alternative communication devices
  • Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • NYS Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license
  • NYS TSSLD required
  • Experience working with developmental delays
  • Knowledge of IEPs and IEP Direct
  • Solid assessment and documentation skills
Desired Skills:
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Experience working with the Pediatric population
  • Previous AAC Device experience
