Job Description: Our attorneys represent small businesses in three roughly equal ways:

  • Transactions: Drafting LLC documents, Customer or Employee Contracts, Reviewing Vendor Contracts, and Business Sale Agreements.
  • Conflict Driven Cases: These are not yet in litigation but might be headed there. We handle business “divorces”, breach of contract matters, and some commercial collections.
  • Litigation: Cases that have ramped up and are at the courthouse.

We do not handle real estate, estate planning, or securities. Over time, our relationships with clients often develop into more of an outside general counsel role.

Compensation: $120,000 to $140,000 plus bonuses. Experienced attorneys can start as high as $140,000. Our salaries per hour worked are competitive with national firms. Less experienced attorneys will have a lower starting salary, but we increase on a six-month step-up. Bonuses include:

  • Client Retention: Quarterly bonus for repeat business.
  • New Client: Quarterly bonus based on a percentage of new retainers.
  • Hours Billed Over 6 Per Day: $150 for hours billed and collected in excess of 6 per day.
  • Meeting 1380 Hours: Annual bonus of 2.5% of base salary.

Responsibilities

  • Hours Expectations: Our attorneys bill 6 hours per day to maintain work-life balance, totaling 1380 hours a year.
  • Client Contact: Our attorneys manage their own clients, while we handle marketing and case finance.

Qualifications

  • Litigation experience is required, though it need not be in business law. We welcome attorneys from insurance defense, collections, family law, and other specialties.
  • The ability to interact and manage client expectations is essential.
  • Self-discipline and a willingness to learn are crucial.
