**Description**
**Position Overview:**
This position operates a small forklift machine for all operations. Manually unloads wood, general cargo, pipe, and containers and stages them in the proper area.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Demonstrates competency operating >+15K forklift that includes:
+ Proper mounting/dismounting (three points of contact).
+ Proper startup and shutdown of forklift (seatbelt, neutral when staring/stopping, neutral when starting/stopping, lowers forklift blades to ground when parking).
+ Proper use of controls (clutch, inching, tilt, lift, attachments, steering).
+ Proper stacking of load (approaches load squarely, stacks straight, squarely, and not too high, deposits load safely, does not move until forks are lowered).
+ Proper loading /unloading a trailer/railcar/other (checks the dock plate, condition of the floor/deck, trailer chocks, jack stands, and brakes if applicable, and maneuvers safely in tight quarters).
* Check equipment to ensure it is properly maintained and is safe to operate.
* Follows proper procedures for an unattended machine.
* Follows all company safety requirements/policies.
* Maintains awareness of all surroundings (i.e. vehicles, people checking equipment, ) at all times.
* Review all shipments upon arrival and inform supervisor immediately of any damages to
* Ensure that cargo is loaded in appropriate container or trailer for
* Perform additional related duties as
**Candidate Requirements:**
* A valid license with acceptable driving
* Must be able to communicate (read, write, and speak)
* Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as
* Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong
**Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:**
* The employee is continuously required to sit (while driving), grasp and exercise eye-hand coordination and eye hand-foot
* The employee is frequently required to reach forward, exercise repetitive foot and wrist motion and finger dexterity.
* The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, bend forward, squat, twist, and reach overhead and pinch.
* The employee must frequently lift, carry, push and pull up to 30 pounds.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust
