If you're passionate about education, committed to equity, and eager to make a meaningful impact, this is your chance to inspire young minds and support their growth.About the Role:We're hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group Math and ELA instruction to 2nd - 5th-grade students at PS 156. As an elementary math and ELA tutor, you'll partner in the classroom with teachers to deliver personalized small-group instruction that empowers students to grow their skills, boost their confidence, and achieve academic success.What You'll Do:
  • Work closely with teachers and school leaders to provide engaging and focused small-group instruction in 2nd - 5th-grade math and ELA.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience.
  • Be a valued part of a team dedicated to transforming educational outcomes in underserved communities.
Schedule:
  • Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Time: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
  • Duration: January 6, 2025 - May 23, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
  • Key Dates Off:
    • January 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
    • January 27: Professional Development Day (no students)
    • January 29: Lunar New Year
    • February 17-21: Midwinter Recess
    • March 31: Eid al-Fitr
    • April 14-18: Spring Recess
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching elementary school math and ELA.
  • Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Math and ELA at the elementary level.
  • Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
  • Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
