The SMT Operator operates, monitors and maintains the equipment used to create electronic circuits with surface mount technology (SMT). The primary job duties involve setting up, operating, and adjusting the SMT machine to mount electronic components directly onto circuit boards. In addition, this position will add through-hole components to circuit boards before they run through a wave solder machine. The SMT Operator plays a pivotal role in the production and quality assurance of our devices.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operates the SMT line, which includes understanding the sequence of events, the control panel, and indicators, and understanding how to replenish supplies and components.
- Prepares the SMT machine to run, which includes machine adjustments and ability to perform set-up (feeder loading and changing) per the manufacturing instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Add through-hole components to circuit boards before they run through the wave solder machine.
- Performs re-work for both SMT and through-hole assemblies when needed.
- Adheres to the maintenance schedule and able to perform general machine cleaning and upkeep per the standard operating procedures.
- Moves SMT assemblies to different areas of production as required.
- Adaptability throughout the workday and ability to multi-task and balance a variety of duties while still completing each task in a timely manner and according to company standards.
- Advanced understanding of inventory systems and can assist in recounting of items and implementation of new systems.
- Openness to assist other Production employees in troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Willingness to job rotate and help in other areas of production.
- Examination of SMT assemblies to assure that everything adheres to company quality standards.
- Advanced knowledge of the brand and products.
- Professional attitude and communication when working with vendors and delivery services.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift more 25-50 lbs.
