About the Position:

Must be willing to work on an 'As Needed' basis as determined by the District Engineer. Must be willing and available to work 12-hour shifts as determined by the District Engineer.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
SNICE Seasonal EO
Position Summary:
The following tasks are the basic job functions that MUST be performed by a SNICE Seasonal EO for the effective operation of dump trucks and equipment during a winter weather event. These temporary employees WILL be required to take and pass a Pre-employment Drug Test, and a Pre-employment Physical Capacity Test for the Equipment Operator level and will be paid at the rate of $27.30 / hour and are eligible for Overtime. This position is not eligible for Stand-by or Snow Premium pay, or reimbursement for Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
* Perform pre-trip inspections of dump trucks on Form 364.
* Fill Trucks with fuel and DEF if equipped.
* Fill saddle tank and/or slip in tank with brine.
* Operate loader to load spreader, make brine, or mix material during a storm.
* Climb in and out of trucks and equipment.
* Replace windshield wiper blades.
* Clear snow/ice from lights, strobes, windshield, and spreader chute.
* Climb ladder on side of dump truck to check load.
* Break up chunks of frozen material in spreader.
* Perform walk around checks during shift including checking condition of plow blade.
* Unload material from spreader at end of storm.
* Remove or replace tailgates.
* Load or remove spreaders or anti-ice tanks from trucks.
* Mount or remove snowplow.
* Change or assist in the changing of plow bits.
* Change tires.
* Install tire chains.
SNICE Seasonal Temp
Position Summary:
The following tasks are the basic job functions that must be performed by a SNICE Seasonal Temp for the effective operation of dump trucks and equipment during a winter weather event. These temporary employees WILL be required to take a Pre-employment Drug Test but will NOT be required to take a Pre-employment Physical Capacity Test and will be paid at the rate of $21.50/hour and are eligible for Overtime. This position is not eligible for Stand-by or Snow Premium pay, reimbursement for Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
* Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of dump trucks on Form 364.
* Fill trucks with fuel and DEF if equipped.

Qualifications:
* Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake option at time of appointment.
* Training and/or experience operating a dump truck.
Post-Offer/Pre-employment Requirements
* The SNICE Seasonal EO positions are subject to pre-employment physical capacity testing. The selected candidate will be required to pass the screening as a condition of employment. (If the individual does not pass the pre-employment physical, they may be selected for the SNICE Seasonal Temp)
* These CDL positions are subject to drug and alcohol testing under the authority of the US Department of Transportation. The selected candidate will be required to pass a DOT pre-employment/pre-duty drug test as a condition of employment in this position. (This position will also require you to participate in random testing, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing.)
* Any Commercial Driver who has received a Confirmed Positive Result or the Equivalent and has not successfully completed all Rehabilitation Program requirements and follow-up testing requirements is not eligible for this position. (Per SOM 2.1.10).
* Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03.
