SnowmakerFull Time or Part Time Seasonal, Hourly (variable shifts)Overview: This will be the toughest job you will ever love. Snowmakers create man-made snow for the enhancement of the natural snow cover or to substitute for natural snow cover. The snowmakers' work schedule varies and is weather-dependent, but typically consists of 8 hour and up to 12 hour shifts. We work when Mother Nature gives us weather. If you enjoy learning new skills on specialized equipment and enjoy working outside even when it is cold and/or dark, this is the job for you. This job can be combined with mechanical responsibilities or lift operations to allow for steady employment when Mother Nature is not providing weather. Reliable attendance is required. This job is only for those that enjoy working and learning in challenging environments.Essential Responsibilities:Arrive to work on time, dressed, and ready to go to workEnsure that snow guns are properly set and ready for start-upEnsure that proper operating procedures and company policies are followedEnsure that snowguns are operating correctly and producing quality snow and are checked in a timely mannerEnsure that hoses and guns are properly drained when shut downShovel snowOther duties as assignedQualificationsStrong personal character and commitment to success of winter season at Ski Big Bear at Masthope MountainAbility to stay positive, focused, and constructive when faced with setbacks, challenges, and while working in an ever-changing environmentBasic understanding of winter conditions and ability to dress appropriatelyA work background that includes outdoor activitiesBasic mechanical aptitudeAbility to do heavy, physical labor, including the ability to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and nightsJob Relationships:Reports to: Snowmaking and Mountain Operations managersInterrelationships: Works closely and communicates effectively with all Lift and Mountain Operations department employees, Patrol, Guests, and other mountain personnelThis job description is to be considered a general outline of the duties and responsibilities of this position and is subject to changes and revisions by Recreation Management Corporation at any time.
