Position Title Social Media Content Creator Department Student Affairs Appointment Term Academic Year (August - May) FLSA Non-Exempt Job Summary
The Social Media Content Creator for Student Affairs at Missouri Western State University is pivotal in advancing the institution's initiatives, programs, and co-curricular experiences by strategically managing and overseeing social media platforms. This position focuses on cultivating a positive online presence, engaging students, faculty, staff, and the broader community, and promoting opportunities at MWSU. The successful candidate will combine creative flair with strategic thinking to drive engagement and support for the university's belongingness and cocurricular efforts.
Essential Duties
* With the Director of Student Development develop and manage a social media content strategy. Identify and implement innovative approaches to increase the Division of Student Affairs visibility and engagement on various social media platforms.
* Create compelling, on-brand content highlighting student engagement for all Division of Student Affairs areas.
* Monitor and analyze social media metrics to measure the effectiveness of event campaigns and identify areas for improvement.
* Stay informed about social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms to continually enhance the online presence of MWSU Division of Student Affairs.
* Recruit, train, and monitor student social media ambassadors.
* Duties as assigned by the Dean of Students and/or Assistant Dean of Students, Student Engagement & Involvement
Required Qualifications
* MWSU Student
* Degree Seeking
* At least an overall 2.0 GPA
* Enrolled at least part-time (6 hours)
* Must qualify for Federal Work Study financial aid assistance.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* An enrolled college student who shows interest and a positive attitude in learning in an intercultural work environment.
* Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Basic experience using Canva, InDesign, or some design software.
* Creative mindset with the ability to generate engaging content.
* Experience with social media analytics and reporting tools.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Demands Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Additional Demands Location where duties are to be performed
