Parsons School of Design is looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual with

extensive knowledge of social media, digital content creation, and graphic design. The Social Media Assistant will work in collaboration with the Academic Communications team in the Parsons Deans Office to write, edit, and produce photographic and video content for Parsons' communications platforms representing its 30+ degree programs.

Responsibilities

* Utilize a strong, creative and media-savvy skill set to aid in the production of social media content across Parsons' social platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

* Aid in the production of school- and program-based social media content as needed.

* Aid in the drafting of weekly Parsons newsletter with events and notable items for the Parsons community through the intake and researching of content suggestions and ideas

* Shoot and edit photo and video content for use on social media, web, and program marketing platforms.

* Conduct interviews with students, alumni, and faculty for Parsons and university video content.

* Design graphic assets for use on social media, blogs, and newsletters.

* Write compelling, concise copy that follows marketing best practices and branding guidelines.

* Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff who contribute content to Parsons' social accounts.

* Attend university events to capture photo and video content for social media.

* Monitor social accounts, including tags, mentions, and direct messages, interacting with both the Parsons community as well as broader external audiences (e.g. prospective students and their families, alumni, etc).

* Proactively research news items, events, and other content ideas for social media to promote and celebrate the Parsons community.

Work Mode: Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.

Hourly Range: $16-$21

Minimum Qualifications:

* Strong interest in social media, storytelling, and community building

* Extensive knowledge of latest digital trends

* Photography and/or videography experience

* Graphic design experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)

* Copywriting and editing skills

* Available during office hours, with flexibility to occasionally attend evening events

* Strong communicator and team player; responsive to feedback

* Enthusiastic, proactive, and ability to work independently

* Skilled at executing multiple projects simultaneously with efficient time management and without sacrificing exceptional attention to detail

* High level of professional discretion

Preferred Qualifications:

* Appreciation for arts, design, student life, and higher education

* Knowledge of Parsons and its schools/programs

* Comfortable on camera

* Background in digital media, marketing, journalism, or communications
