Job Summary:
Horizon BCBSNJ seeks a professionally curious, motivated, and creative social media intern who shares our data-driven, audience-first mindset and has a commitment to use social media to impact the health and well-being of others.
The Social Media intern will assist the Social Media team creating content, supporting social care, and developing competitive analysis to improve channel strategy in support of Horizon's strategic goals. You will have the opportunity to plan and execute, end-to-end, at least one significant project over the course of the internship and will gain valuable insights into the role social media plays at Horizon working closely with the leadership and other members of the division.
Responsibilities:
* Creating templates, copy and images for social media campaigns.
* Reviewing competitor and healthcare organization social media sites to identify opportunities for Horizon.
* Auditing Horizon and competitor YouTube channels to identify best-in-class examples and developing a recommendation and plan to redesign Horizon's channel to optimize engagement and the consumer experience.
* Working collaboratively with video team to identify opportunities to further leverage Horizon's library of video content. Assist in reviewing existing video content on Horizon's website to identify opportunities to further leverage that content on social.
* Analyzing social media advertising performance data to develop recommendations that improve engagement.
* Utilizing social listening tool to identify trends and topics for timely content creation.
Education/Experience:
* An incoming senior working toward an undergraduate degree or graduate student from an accredited college or university. Your degree should be in or contain a substantial focus on digital or strategic communications, social media, advertising, video production, graphic arts, or marketing.
* Preferred experience with non-personal social media, graphic arts, advertising or digital marketing.
Knowledge:
* Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
* Experience with Canva, Adobe, Sprout, or InVideo a plus.
* Be a self-starter who holds themselves accountable to a high standard of performance, is detail-oriented but strategy-driven, and has an ability to plan and execute multiple small to large projects within agreed upon timeframes.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Location: 3 Penn Plaza Newark NJ - Hybrid Work Schedule
Schedule: 8am-5pm (9 hour work day with lunch)
Duration: 11 week Summer Internship Program (June 2, 2025 - August 15, 2025)
