Job Summary
The Social Media Specialist manages the design and development of social media communications for University athletics and University channels consistent with marketing and communications initiatives. Responsible for integrating social media campaigns into marketing initiatives and communications programs.

Job Description
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
* Manages the design and development of university-level social media content that supports the University's marketing and communications initiatives within FGCU Athletics and across campus.
* Provides creative leadership in generating original ideas for marketing and social media strategies that achieve strategic goals; ensures that the designs follow the correct branding; and are in-line with appropriate targets and timelines.
* Oversees the maintenance, executes updates, and evaluates strategies for effectiveness of the university's social media channels.
* Collaborates with colleagues and departments to manage and maintain a strategic social media calendar.
* Creates an engaging environment for students and staff to provide content.
* Researches marketplace competitiveness, anticipates trends within the social media platforms and identifies opportunities through systematic analysis.
* Edits graphics templates for posting relevant information on all social media channels.
* Creates content and independently produces and captures photos and videos for social platforms.
* Develops new techniques, systems, and procedures to enhance the marketing efforts of the university and assists with development of the overall social media strategy for the university.
* Reviews progress, evaluates effectiveness of social media marketing, implements new processes, and promotes best practices; tracks and reports social media metrics.
* Actively monitors, manages and responds to comments and messages across social media channels.

Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
* This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
* Professional full-time experience in marketing, public relations, social media, or website development.
* Experience with publishing, imaging, or graphics software (Adobe Creative Suite or other specialized publishing or editing software) and social media monitoring software.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Four years professional full-time experience in marketing, public relations, social media, or website development.
* Work experience in collegiate athletics.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position, including those dictated by the NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference.
* Knowledge of marketing strategies and communication principles.
* Knowledge and experience designing, implementing and assessing the effectiveness of marketing strategies and promotional materials.
* Knowledge of and ability to create and post photographs/videos to various social media sites.
* Knowledge and ability to recognize and implement video, broadcast production techniques and standards, branding and marketing principles.
* Knowledge and proficiency in use of publishing and design software
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
* Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
* Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
* Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex issues.
