Job DescriptionSummarySocial Night Workers create a fun, supportive, and safe environment during quarterly Social Night Events for adults with developmental disabilities. This role involves event setup, engagement with attendees, and ensuring smooth event operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and possess the physical ability to lift, move, and arrange event materials. Candidates must be available on the following scheduled dates for Social Nights:
- December 12, 2024
- February 13, 2025
- May 22, 2025
- September 25, 2025
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing Social Night Events, including setup, teardown, and event operations.
- Events are scheduled from 6-8 PM on Thursdays quarterly. Workers must report from 5-9 PM.
- Tasks include setting up tables, chairs, and decorations and handling event materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Engage with event attendees, offering support and encouragement and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
- Ensure all attendees are safely supervised and have transportation arrangements when leaving the event.
- Assist in serving refreshments and managing event clean-up.
- Monitor the event space, including restrooms, to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Work cooperatively with other Social Night Workers to ensure event success and address any issues.
Physical and Safety Responsibilities
- Safely lift and move event equipment, including tables, chairs, and decorations, weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Maintain active engagement for the entire event, including standing and walking for extended periods.
- Adhere to safety protocols and Board policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of attendees and staff, including monitoring the event area and addressing potential safety concerns.
Other Duties as Assigned
- The essential duties represent the core functions of this role but do not exclude other related tasks as needed. Flexibility in handling various event-related duties is required.
Experience and SkillsEducation and Experience
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in social or group settings is strongly preferred.
Essential Competencies
- Ability to work collaboratively, follow safety protocols, and provide attendees a positive, supportive environment.
- Maintain punctuality and adhere to the event schedule.
- Demonstrate flexibility in managing various event responsibilities, from setup to attendee engagement.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The role requires physical activity, including lifting up to 35 lbs, standing for long periods of time (up to 3.5 hours), and moving event materials.
- Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor event spaces and adapt to various physical tasks.
Job Benefits
- $125 stipend per social night event.
- Social night workers will be scheduled for each event from 5PM-9PM.
- 8 Social Night Workers and 2 Alternates will be selected.
