As a Social Work Intern specializing in therapy services, you will work under the supervision of licensed clinical social workers or therapists to gain practical experience and develop your therapeutic skills. This internship is designed for advanced standing MSW candidates. This is an unpaid internship opportunity.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct intake assessments to gather information about clients' backgrounds, needs, and presenting issues.
* Collaborate with licensed professionals to formulate comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments.
* Provide individual therapy sessions to clients under supervision, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
* Develop and implement client-centered treatment plans in collaboration with supervising therapists.
* Monitor and evaluate the progress of clients and adjust treatment plans as needed.
* Collaborate with other professionals, agencies, and support systems to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and relevant documentation.
* Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in documentation practices.
* Demonstrate cultural competence in working with a diverse client population.
* Consider the impact of cultural factors on clients' mental health and incorporate cultural sensitivity into therapeutic interventions.
* Assist clients in navigating community resources and support services.
Qualifications:
* Enrolled in a Master of Social Work (MSW) program with a focus on clinical social work.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
* Understanding of and commitment to ethical social work practices.
* Demonstrated interest in and commitment to mental health and therapy services.
