Overview:

The HealthySteps Specialist is an early child development social worker who will join the Northwest Arkansas Pediatrics, a Medical Associates of Northwest Arkansas Clinic to provide interventions, referrals, and follow-up for families with 0 3 year-old patients for social, emotional, and behavioral issues.

The Social Worker - Healthy Steps Specialist builds strong relationships with families and clinic staff to increase the efficiency of the medical system and support team-based comprehensive care.

Healthy Steps Specialist requires a Master's Degree in Social Work and fully licensed professional in the State of Arkansas.

Responsibilities:
  • Promotes integrated behavioral health and evidence based pediatric intervention within the primary care practice. Conducts team-based well-child visits before or following the primary care provider visits focusing on monitoring development, social-emotional functioning, relational health, and provides anticipatory guidance.
  • Coordinates medical, specialty, and community agency appointment as needed. Provides referrals and tracks follow-up, as appropriate, to help families make successful connections to key resources within the community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community providers of health and social services. Participate in community-wide early childhood learning collaboratives or work groups (when appropriate).
  • Join the Programs Department team to implement the HealthySteps model in the Primary Care practice and attend all related trainings. Work with the Programs Coordinator to ensure scheduling of the HS Specialist's time in coordination with provider visits (i.e., well-child visits).
  • With guidance from the Programs Manager provide and/or facilitate training to medical professionals and all practice staff re:early childhood development, early relational health/infant early childhood mental health, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Required-Current Arkansas Professional License in Social Work.
  • Required-Master's Degree in Social Work
  • Pediatric Behavioral or Developmental work experience.
  • Previous experience in Primary Care or a Healthcare Setting preferred but not required.
