Join our St. Joseph's Health Centre team as we work to put patients and families at the centre of everything we do, in the role of Physiotherapist on our Health Disciplines Resource TeamSeeking a Physiotherapist with excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills who is comfortable working in a variety of acute inpatient units. This position will be primarily responsible for providing assessment and treatment recommendations for inpatients throughout the Medicine programs with occasional assistance in the Surgical programs. Reporting to the Manager, Collaborative Practice and Education, this permanent part-time role will provide weekend clinical coverage every Sunday in diverse inpatient care areas across the health centre.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary role of a physiotherapist is to assess, diagnose within scope, and analyze the impact of injury, disease, disorders, environment factors or lifestyle on movement and function. Physiotherapists promote physical activity and overall health at any stage of life when movement and function are threatened. They prevent and rehabilitate disease, injury, and disability, and manage and improve acute and chronic conditions, activity limitations, participation restrictions and physical performance through intervention and education.Works effectively as a member of an interprofessional team, collaborating with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient careContributes to the academic mandate of the organization as an educator, resource or support for staff and members of the academic and professional communityIdentifies and addresses educational needs for patients and their familiesDemonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development in order to continue to provide optimal patient careIs committed to and participates in ongoing quality improvement and/or research in the organizationProvides patient care in accordance with all professional and organizational standardsIs committed to providing anti oppressive and accessible care for all patientsQUALIFICATIONS: Must be currently licensed by and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO) for practice in all applicable clinical areasMust hold a Master's Degree (or substantial equivalent) in PhysiotherapyCurrent BLS (or willingness to complete within probationary period)As required by the program, must be rostered (or willing to roster prior to the end of the probationary period) with the CPO to perform the following activity: Administering a Substance by InhalationExperience on Medical and Surgical units preferredExcellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skillsProven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environmentExcellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills as relates to patient careDemonstrated advocacy, commitment to and involvement with profession preferred (e.g. involvement with professional association, representation on relevant committees)Potential candidates who do not meet all preferred qualifications are still encouraged to apply.Unity Health Toronto is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive organization.
