Job Title: Social Worker - Multiple Myeloma (Inpatient)Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network and is the largest hospital in the Mount Sinai Health Care System. It offers comprehensive social work services and programming to meet the myriad needs of the diverse populations we serve. We believe that total patient care must emphasize the physical, emotional, and social needs of each patient and their carepartners. Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra-curricular opportunities.
- This position involves the provision of psychosocial services for patients admitted to/consulted by the Multiple Myeloma (MM) service.
Responsibilities
- The social worker in this position will be working with patients and families affected by MM and related hematologic malignancies.
- As an integral member of the interdisciplinary MM team, the social worker will conduct psychosocial assessments, participate in daily team rounds for coordination of safe discharge planning, and provide counseling to patients/caregivers coping with new diagnosis throughout trajectory of disease to end of life.
- The social worker will be responsible for organizing and facilitating family meetings with primary oncology and other multidisciplinary teams as needed.
- Close collaboration with all MM social workers is essential to promote continuity of care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This social worker will be an active participant in psychosocial program development in MM and will also be expected to participate in weekly team meetings.
- Responsibilities include coverage of other inpatient oncology social workers.
Qualifications
- NYS LMSW or LCSW.
- Excellent clinical, collaborative, and organizational skills.
- Skills in conducting in-depth psychosocial assessment and focused, short and long-term treatment.
- Inpatient hospital experience preferred.
- Oncology experience preferred.
- Minimum one year in current position unless currently a float in Oncology.
Compensation StatementThe Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $82,000.00 - $105,040.09 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.
