Posting/External Job Title Software Assurance Engineer Location Houston, TX 77058 US (Primary) Remote/Onsite/Hybrid Hybrid (Partial Remote) Job Type Full-time # of Hires Needed 3 Education Bachelor's Degree Travel Up to 10% Security Clearance Required None Pay Range (All offers will be based on experience) $95,000.00 - $135,000.00/yr Position Introduction/Key Duties Cimarron is seeking a Software Assurance Engineer in Houston, TX. The selected candidate for this position will perform engineering assessments and analyses on the International Space Station, Commercial Vehicles (manned and unmanned) payloads, and experiments that are flown on International (e.g. Progress or Soyuz) or commercial vehicles (SpaceX, CST-100). This is a hybrid opportunity that will allow for some remote work (i.e. work from home)! Key Duties:

  • Assure that software safety design and operations specifications and products meet International Space Station Program (ISSP), Safety & Mission Assurance (S&MA) software safety requirements.
  • Assess the ISS software development, test, verification, and change products and identify problems and noncompliances.
  • Ensure compliance with Computer Based Controls System Safety Requirements (SSP 50038B), ISS System Specifications (SSP 41000), ISS Safety Requirements Document (50021), and applicable NASA standards (7150, 8719, 8739).
  • Prepare reports, present findings of assessments and evaluations, and provide recommendations to the NASA S&MA Software Team Manager.
  • Participate in Safety Panel Reviews
  • Participate in ISS on-orbit anomaly assessment process and evaluate safety compliance of proposed on-orbit software modifications.
  • Participate in and represent software S&MA assurance, as appropriate and as required, in working groups, panels, and boards to perform the above-described tasks.
  • Work with customers, including NASA, Space Station contractors, and International Partners.
Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • 13 or more years of related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with customers, peers, and management.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office to prepare reports, presentations, and charts.
  • Familiarity with the NASA organization, Software Development, and Software Assurance.
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • NASA system flight safety review process experience.
  • Experience with direct participation in conducting and documenting space system safety reviews.
  • Understanding of NASA SW Standards 7150 and 8739.
  • Understanding of the system safety hazards analysis process.
