Our Software DeveloperIIs are a key member of the development team, designing, developing and maintaining high quality software.Primary Activities and Responsibilities* Translate functional requirements into working solutions* Code, debug, test and support programs, applications, services, mobile apps, utilities, tools and framework as part of the application development life cycle* Document test cases, expected results, test data requirements, and collaborate with testing teams/business partners to resolve testing problems* Provide impact analysis for changes to programs and systems* Provide production support responsibilities for one or more products* Follow best practices around developing and maintaining secure systems* Design and build technical solutions for typical business problems based on standards and guidance from more experienced team members* Debug and resolve issues with code of low complexity for an application* Actively engaged with immediate team members to ensure alignment with technical deliverables* Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by managerMinimum Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree* 1 or more years of experience required in Software DevelopmentEquivalent Minimum Qualifications* High School Diploma/GED* 2 or more years of experience in Transportation/Intermodal Operations, Information Systems, or LogisticsPreferred Qualifications* Graduate DegreeKnowledge and Skills* Computer Programming skills and willingness to learn new technologies* Debugging and problem-solving skills* Ability to perform unit and integration testing* Systems documentation skills (requirements and technical design)* Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively (both written and orally)Knowledge of:* Agile Scrum methodologies and their application* Change management processes and the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) concepts* Cloud technologies* General databases with ability to query and interact with backends* Non-relational databases including MongoDB, JSON, graph, etc.* Messaging: JMS, IBM MQ, Active MQ* Intermediate Experience with:* Object Oriented Programming (Java preferred)* Relational Database Management System* Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)* Web Service Development (REST/SOAP)* SQL Queries for Relational Databases* Tools focused on improving code quality and testing: SonarQube, Junit, Mockito, JMeter* Object Oriented Programming* Java Server Faces (JSF), Primefaces, Angular, Javascript, Typescript* HTML5* CSS-based Layout and Design* Responsive Web DesignCurrent Product Delivery Focus* Service PlanningLeadershipThe CSX Leadership Model is the foundation of our Talent Strategy and is what drives CSX performance.
