Job Description:

Description

Are you excited about building high-performance robotic systems that can perceive, learn, and act intelligently alongside humans? The Amazon Robotics is creating new products and technologies that make this possible, at Amazon scale.

The Robotic Manipulation organization is looking for engineers who can continue to advance the state-of-the art in our domain. We are seeking versatile, curious engineers to join our diverse, full-stack team. In addition to holistically designing, building, and delivering end-to-end robotic systems, our team is responsible for the core infrastructure and tools that serve as the backbone of our robotic applications, enabling roboticists, machine learning scientists, and software engineers to collaborate and deploy systems in the lab and in the field. Our work spans real-time software, machine learning engineering, big data, simulation, and more.

We are a team that launched the first large-scale Robotic Manipulation capability in 2020 (Robin). The solution has now scaled to a fleet of >1300 and has shipped >3B packages. No comparable solutions exist in the world. We are now evolving Robotic Manipulation capabilities into new process paths including manipulation of individual items; these advancements will result in fleets exceeding 10,000 that will unlock Amazon's ability to improve service to our customers amidst labor shortages and network complexity.

We have come a long way in demonstrating the viability of Robotics at scale but we are still very early in the journey of transforming Amazon Fulfillment and the world. If you are passionate about shaping the future then this is the right opportunity for you.

About the team

The Robotic Orchestration team owns the decision making process for the robotic station. We are roboticists that understand how visual sensing, robotic motion, and peripheral hardware come together to create state-of-the-art, efficient, and robust robotic products. We design flexible software architectures that enable fast iteration and reuse and get the right product to our customer when they need it. We also integrate the robot with external automation systems, and control all aspects of the software lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- Solid computer science fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
